Get to Know Weston Porter, Market Analyst

Meet Weston Porter, Market Analyst and new HLC team member!

Weston Porter joined Holt Lunsford Commercial in 2022 and serves as Market Analyst in the Dallas Industrial division. In his role, he is responsible for assisting in project leasing assignments, as well as marketing and business development efforts of the Industrial team and other HLC clients.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Weston continued his four-generation family tradition of attending Texas A&M University. He received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from the College of Engineering. While studying at A&M, Weston served in the Corps of Cadets, Athletics Company E-1, and was involved in Ross Volunteers. In his senior year, he was given the privilege to serve the University as a Yell Leader to help promote and perpetuate the classic Aggie culture through athletic events, social gatherings, and A&M traditions.

Weston found HLC through a connection that helped him meet people in the real estate industry. Weston then joined HLC as an intern in summer 2021.

What brought you to HLC?
During my internship at HLC, I met all the employees here and saw the culture they built. That’s when I knew I was going to do all I could to be a part of that community, and here I am. So, I guess I did something right along the way.

How do you hope to grow at HLC?
I hope to grow to be a respected member of the industry like my superiors are here at HLC. I see their achievements and success and hope to grow just as they did.

What about your role at HLC most excites or interests you?
To be able to learn from guys at the top of their game in such a close environment. I get to see how they handle their deals and see their reactions to certain situations. It’s a true blessing of HLC – the availability to learn so much.

Which HLC value resonates the most with you and why?
The commitment to build a business that glorifies God. Not many places in any industry have that kind of mission, which sets us apart from the rest of the world. Openly having faith in the Lord.

What three words would you use to describe the HLC culture?
Family, Committed, and Available.

How do you define success?
I would define success by the quality of relationships you have built within your life. The quantity has nothing to do with it.

How do you like to spend your free time?
Shanking every shot I take on a golf course and, for some reason, going back to play again.

Favorite quote?
“In any case you mustn’t confuse a single failure with a final defeat” – F. Scott Fitzgerald

What superpower would you like to have?
Super speed for sure. It would just be nice.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you?
A case of Miller, a lawn chair, and a speaker…every man’s heaven.

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
I would be a koala because all they do is relax all day and seem to have a peaceful life. If you wake them up, they stop being cute.

If you could redesign the food pyramid without any dire health consequences, how would it look?
Meat would be the only block in the structure and maybe a small piece for fruit.

Welcome to HLC, Weston, we are glad you are here!
