Meet Garret West, Market Associate and new HLC team member!
Garret West joined Holt Lunsford Commercial in 2022 and serves as a Market Associate in the Retail Division. Prior to joining HLC, Garret was an Associate at Vision Commercial in Dallas where he handled leasing for Retail, Office, and Industrial properties as well as acting as a Tenant Representative for clients. During this time, he gained valuable experience working on a diverse portfolio and providing exceptional service to his clients. Garret is a graduate of Texas Christian University where he received a BBA in Finance with a Real Estate Emphasis and Entrepreneurial Management Degree.
Garret was born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas, with his two older sisters and twin brother. He enjoys spending time with friends on the lake, golfing, and hunting. Garret moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2015 and has been here since.
What brought you to HLC?
I was looking for a new opportunity to grow in commercial real estate. Once I interviewed and met the team here in Fort Worth, I knew HLC was a culture and company I wanted to be a part of. I saw it as a great opportunity to learn and grow from some great people.
How do you hope to grow at HLC?
My hope is to grow technically and transactionally here at HLC. I hope to be a strong producer for HLC while building meaningful relationships with my co-workers around me.
What about your role at HLC most excites or interests you?
The opportunity to learn from industry leaders. I am learning the foundation to success each day. My role allows me to build on my previous real estate experience.
Which HLC value resonates the most with you and why?
Trust. It is difficult to build trust but very easy to break it. Once it is broken, it’s twice as hard to build it back. This is a value that drives many of my decisions in life. I strive to build and keep trust from people I come into contact with. I work to keep proving my trustworthiness and it is a principle I look for in the people I work with. Being able to have someone you trust with your career and growth is an important value and one of the main reasons I was drawn to HLC.
What three words would you use to describe the HLC culture?
Diligent, trusting, and faithful.
If you could tell one person “thank you” for helping me become the person you are today, who would it be and why?
My father. He was the one who instilled my work ethic at a young age. He made sure that my brother and I worked hard and diligently. He has always instilled a first-in and last-to-leave mindset when it comes to working. He has always encouraged me to put in the extra hours that others won’t.
How do you define success?
Success is finding contentment and peace with the life you build for yourself.
Favorite ice cream flavor?
Homemade Vanilla Blue Bell.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you?
A tank of gas, a boat, and a bottle of red wine.
If you could steal credit for any great piece of art, song, film or book, which one would you claim?
The Marvel series.
Which animal would make the best type of president if the animal kingdom ever rose up and took over?
Owl because they are so wise.
If you had to choose, what would your last meal be? No limits.
Becks Prime bacon burger with mayo, mustard, ketchup, and pickles with truffle fries and Whataburger Ketchup. Then Crispy Shrimp from Steak 48 as well as a chocolate cake topped with homemade vanilla Blue Bell ice cream.
