Meet Carter Sells, Market Analyst and new HLC team member!
Carter Sells joined Holt Lunsford Commercial in 2022 and serves as a Market Analyst in the Fort Worth Office Division. He is responsible for executing transactions on approximately 4 million square feet of office assets representing private and institutional investors. Carter’s favorite part of working at HLC is the relationships he has built with his mentors and how they encourage him to be a better person and employee.
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Carter attended Abilene Christian University as a student-athlete, where he earned a BBA in Finance. He then earned his Texas Real Estate Commission License and became a member of the Real Estate Council (TREC). Outside of HLC, Carter enjoys mountain biking, lifting, running, and anything and everything outdoors.
What brought you to HLC?
While attending ACU, I told one of my professors, Dr. Jody Jones, that I wanted to work in Commercial Real Estate. He recommended that I pursue a career at Holt Lunsford Commercial. After researching the company, I drafted a cover letter and applied via the company website. Following the application, I called all the ACU alumni I knew working at HLC—Trey Goodspeed, Bryce Adams, and Skylar Seidman. They took time out of their day to coach me on what the position would entail and helped me obtain the interview. Being a baseball player, I had no prior work experience; thus, I was looking for someone to take a chance on me professionally. After my final interview call with John Dickson, I felt it was safe to say I would join the team. The entire has been a Godsend, and I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Fort Worth office team.
How do you hope to grow at HLC Fort Worth?
I aspire to become like my mentors. I am fortunate to study under two of the top brokers in Fort Worth. Jake Neal and Vic Meyer are disciplined, patient, intuitive, tough-minded, driven, and compassionate individuals. In addition, they represent what it means to be a man of faith, a husband, and a father. These are all qualities I want my peers to attribute to me one day, and working for them while joining the HLC family has made this job incredibly fulfilling.

How do you like to spend your free time?
I enjoy hiking with my fiancé, mountain biking, and cooking.
How do you define success?
I define success as being a provider for your family, a leader in your community, an evangelist for Christ, and a competitor in the top 1% of your field.
