Meet Carter Holmes, Houston Market Analyst and new HLC team member!
Carter grew up in Houston, Texas, the youngest of three boys, and he remains very close to his two older brothers and the rest of his family. For college he attended Texas Christian University where he received a BS in Economics, and then went on to work as an energy broker for Power Connection in Houston negotiating electricity contracts between commercial users and suppliers.
Carter serves Holt Lunsford Commercial as a Market Analyst in the Houston Industrial Division. In his role, he is responsible for assisting in project leasing assignments and market research, as well as marketing and business development efforts for the Industrial team and other HLC clients.
What brought you to HLC?
My father and brother are in real estate and I was looking to make a career move into the industry. I met Craig Bean for breakfast and learned about all the good things that are happening at HLC and felt that it was the right fit for me!
How do you hope to grow at HLC?
I want to pursue my career goal of becoming a successful industrial broker. I also hope to grow personally as well as professionally.
Which HLC value resonates the most with you and why?
There are two, We Put Others First – The Golden Rule and We Love People. I like working with people that want to treat other people right. I also believe in putting family first and that attitude is everything.
What about your role at HLC most excites or interests you?
HLC is a company made up of great people, and I’m excited to learn and grow for the team and for myself.
What three words would you use to describe the HLC culture?
Hard-working, good people.
What inspires you?
The people that I work with. Making a deal happen that is a win-win – it’s a great feeling to work hard to put a deal together that works for everyone and then get to celebrate that success!
How do you like to spend your free time?
I love being outdoors, and I enjoy hunting, fishing and playing golf. I like spending time with friends, watching sports or just hanging out.
Everyone has a good app idea. What’s yours?
A concierge-type of app that will fight with the airlines for a refund, with the fee you pay the concierge being based on their success rate.
What would your pet say about you if we asked for a reference?
Beau, my six-year old golden doodle, would probably say, “He’s the best dad. He lets me get on the bed and lie on the pillows. He gives me lots of treats and people food.”
What could you teach me to do in five minutes?
I could teach you how football works.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want to have with you?
Firestarter, a machete and a pot to boil water.
What’s the last thing you watched on TV?
Houston Astros game.
If you could steal credit for any great piece of art, song, film, book, etc., which one would it be?
The Star-Spangled banner.
Last meal?
Big fillet cooked medium-rare, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans and dessert.
