Introducing Harrison Putt, Dallas Industrial Market Associate and new addition to HLC!
Harrison grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, where his family has owned and operated a full-service, special event business for 25 years. Working for his parents in his teenage years and watching their enterprise grow from the smallest event company in Jackson to the largest gave Harrison a real-life education on what it takes to run a successful business. Valuing your clients and employees/coworkers with the highest regard, working with energy and passion, and leading by example through a strong work ethic and service are three building blocks Harrison absorbed from his days working in the family business, and he seeks to apply them in his new post at HLC.
Harrison went on to college at Mississippi State University where he received a BBA in Finance with a concentration in Real Estate and also met his wife Evan, who works as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser. Yes, he was lucky enough to be at Mississippi State during the Dak Prescott years! He started his real estate career as a Broker Associate at NAI UCR Properties in Jackson where he was responsible for assisting with leasing of a portfolio consisting of approximately 500,000 SF of office, retail and industrial properties at an estimated market value of $30M. In his time, Harrison helped generate $5M in transaction volume and leased over 70,000 SF of space.
What brought you to Dallas?
Looking long-term and big picture, industrial real estate is the least volatile sector of commercial real estate historically and will continue to grow due to the rise of e-commerce and the need for warehousing and distribution. I have known for a long time commercial real estate is the industry I want to be in, so taking it a step further and becoming a specialist in Industrial only made sense. When I felt it was time for me to take the next step in my career, I “googled” the top industrial real estate markets in the country, and Dallas was at or near the top of the list on every article I found. It also helped that Evan and I absolutely adored the city already and continue to love it; having America’s team in your town with your college’s QB leading it did not hurt the cause either (we are Saints fans, but that’s a whole other discussion!) Dallas is also an incredible place to raise a family, with countless options of where to live. Lastly, Evan and I are huge foodies, and we all know Dallas has one of the best culinary scenes in America.
What brought you to HLC?
I found a D CEO article listing the top brokers in Dallas and started cold-calling them to discuss applying for a position on their industrial team. Long story short, in one of those calls I connected with our Managing Principal for Dallas Industrial, Canon Shoults, and set up an interview. In addition to HLC, I interviewed with about 10 different groups and just about all of them asked, “Have you talked with the guys at Holt?” Clearly, this was a testament to the quality of the people at HLC and was something that stuck with me as I went through the interview process – being a top three industrial player in the market was also a massive draw. HLC absolutely lived up to the hype, and five minutes into the interview I realized this was home if they wanted me, and luckily, they did!
