Get to Know Craig Bean, Market Analyst

HLC is happy to introduce Craig Bean, Houston Market Analyst and new addition to HLC!

Craig grew up on the edge of the Texas Hill Country in the small rural town of Menard, Texas. He spent his younger days hunting and fishing on his family’s ranch and playing every sport offered. When it was time for college, he attended The University of Texas in Austin. Craig is a third generation Longhorn – with both sets of his grandparents, his parents, his older sister and several other family members having attended and graduated from UT, the pressure for him to get in was on! Craig rose to the challenge, was accepted and graduated with a BA in Government. From there, he went on to become a policy advisor to Governor Greg Abbott in Austin, working on a wide range of issues including energy and environmental policy, military and veterans’ issues, wildlife conservation, local regulation, and taxes before joining Holt Lunsford Commercial. In his role at HLC, Craig assists with leasing and marketing efforts for HLC’s industrial portfolio across the Greater Houston Area. In addition, he assists with business development efforts, including tenant representation, and performs market research for clients.

What brought you to HLC?
I was working in the governor’s office, and about mid-year of 2017 I felt it was time to make a change and get out of politics. I started doing research into commercial real estate and decided it would be a good fit for me. Along the way I met John Kruse, we started talking, and the rest is history.

What three words or phrases would you use to describe the HLC culture?
Family-oriented, hard-working and fun.

Which HLC value resonates the most with you and why?
Learn. I’m new to the industry and will be for the next year or so – learning is a big part of every day for me!

How do you define success?
Enjoying what you do every day and being comfortable in your role.

If you could tell one person “thank you” for helping me become the person I am today, who would it be and why?
My mom. She has been there for me every step of the way, and she is super-supportive.

How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to golf, fish and just be outdoors in general. When I lived in Austin, I really enjoyed all the outdoor activities that are available there. I also try to attend every UT football game that I can!

What’s your secret talent no one at work knows about?
I’m a good cook; my specialty is Southwestern and Tex-Mex food (think tacos, stuffed peppers, etc.).

What is the last gift you gave someone?
Since we are just coming out of the holiday season, I gave several gifts recently. But my favorite gift is the little kitchen that I gave my one-and-half-year-old nephew. Every morning he gets up and “cooks up” breakfast!

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
A cheetah, so I could run really fast.

Last meal?
Chile Relleno from Matt’s El Rancho in Austin.

Welcome to the HLC team Craig, we are glad you are here!
